The DigiGEAR AR platform is offered to students through a standalone, fully functional Android application for mobile devices. It functions as an accompaniment to the DigiGEAR e-learning modules, but is also available without user authentication for broader outreach.
Specifically, the AR application contains lessons that accompany the DigiGEAR e-learning modules on a 1-1 basis with bilateral bridges that connect the two environments, and aims to support users to consolidate the e-learning module learning outcomes with a hands-on and interactive and foremostly three-dimensional approach. To that end, and for a smoother learning curve, the app contains a range of mediums, from 2D interactive puzzles to fully 3D AR interactive content. The main advantage of the AR application is that it offers learners strong educational affordances to understand the appearance, function, placement and connection of critical components of electric cars​.
